Colorful Clouds

Ready for some colorful clouds gentle reader? OK! But before diving into this week’s post, here’s a bit about me. And, if you are seeking weekly, colorful paintings in your world (and why not, right?), you can sign up here.

Onward to take a look at this week’s painting.

Clouds and Color and More Oh My

This week’s painting starts with a confession. Ready? I painted the clouds, as much as a person can capture clouds in paint, on my back deck a few weeks ago.

Then I saw an amazing sunset off the same deck recently. And, I’m thinking about the beach alot these days. So, I combined the cloud painting with the colors from that sunset and beach memories and voila. Here’s the 12×12 inch oil painting on panel.

I’m excited to share that it will be framed, for sale for $400 and on view at my gallery wall at Crossroads Art Center.

And, if you think you’ll be in Richmond, VA next Friday, May 15th, come on by! I’ll be at the gallery and I’ll be doing an art giveaway at 6:30pm that evening. Stop by and register at my gallery wall. Simply ask the friendly staff at the front desk and they can direct you to my wall. If you win, you’ll have the chance to choose one of five, framed paintings. Get a sneak peak of your choices in the image below!

Crossroads Art Center is located at 2016 Staples Mill Rd Richmond, VA 23230. If you know anyone in Richmond who you think might enjoy a colorful, art-filled, gathering with wine, beverages and hors d’ouevres, please spread the word.

  1. What colors! What movement! Love this painting! Also love knowing it’s a combo of a fleeting moment observing ever-changing clouds, light and beaches.

  2. I love the way you convey the vastness of the sky and the muted colors of the sunset!

  3. Hi Julie- your painting has me humming Carole King’s, “ it’s cloud’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know clouds at all.”
I love the diagonal movement in your painting.
Have fun in Richmond. I’ll let my pals there know you’re coming.

    1. Hi Kathy, …think you might mean Joni Mitchell’s song? Either way, glad the painting got you humming! And, TY for seeing that diagonal movement. It’s ever present in nature (for a fleeting moment) and I’m delighted you see what I had hoped to capture. TY for letting Richmond friends know about the art opening at Crossroads next week! xoxo
