A Sound Convert?

What is a Sound Convert? Oooooh I can’t wait to share with you, gentle reader. Before I share more in this week’s post, here’s a bit about me. And, if you are seeking weekly, colorful paintings in your world (and why not, right?), you can sign up here.

Onward to take a look at this week’s painting.

What is a Sound Convert?

OK well first a confession. Any time I have thought about visiting the ocean, I have been a “sound snob.” What does that mean? I have always been on team “sit (or stay) on the ocean view side.”

For a variety of reasons, I/we decided to skip the ocean view to celebrate my birthday this week. And, so, we booked a sound side place at the beach. Holy Moly my world view has now shifted. Am I a complete sound convert? Hmmm…stay tuned we’ll see. But here’s a view of the a-mazing clouds and sky we can see. This is a 4×6 acrylic painting on cold press paper. It’s a study for a larger painting. Stay tuned on where you might be able to see them.

The other reasons we are loving the sound side:
Birds: we have seen a loon couple, ospreys, the usual gulls (Laughing, Bonapart), Semi-palmated plovers, and more all from our deck
Fish: we have seen dolphins, dolphins, crabs, horseshoe crabs, pin fish and more all from our deck
Kayaking: is so easy here. No schlepping the kayaks to special put-ins. We just head out from the dock and deck here
Painting: the ever changing cloud and sunsets each day have been paint worthy and amazing
Sea view: and because this island is so narrow, we can walk over to the beach in less than 10 minutes for a view of the sandy beach and waves.

Is there a reason to return to a seaside view? Hmmm…I won’t turn you down if you invite me. The coast is a fabulous place. But if I plan to stay for any length of time in this neck of the woods? I think you’ll see me on the sound side.

Stay tuned

Meantime, how are you gentle reader? Do you have a preference for coastal views and visits? Is there a different coastal perspective (other than sound or ocean view) that you might want to share here? If so, please do. I would love to hear from you in the comments below.

  1. Happy Birthday again, Julie! And what a wonderful way to celebrate your special day. I enjoyed reading your discovery of the pleasures of staying on the sound side. I never really gave it much thought but I might now! I also enjoyed the freshness of your painting and especially the juxtaposition of the cool blues of the sky and warm blues of the water. xoxo
