Come See Hear Touch Original Art
It is possible to come see hear touch original art? Stay tuned gentle reader! But first, if you are new here and seeking weekly, colorful paintings in your world (and why not, right?), you can sign up here.
Onward to take a look at this week’s paintings.
Is It Possible to Touch Art
Yes! Though please read on to see the details here. At this weekend’s art opening of “Engage: Art+Nature+Poetry” you are absolutely invited to – yes – even touch one of the pieces. Here are some details:
There is a delightful, tactile (touchable) piece in this exhibit by my art colleague and friend, Dawn Marie Rozzo. Here’s a sneak peak of a detail of this large piece entitled “An Hour in the Garden.”

Isn’t it fun and whimsical? Here’s your invitation to touch this work of art. Dawn collaborated with the kids and teachers at the Governor Morehead School for the Blind to create this wonderful piece.
More to See
Dawn, and the other featured artist and friend, Julia Einstein and I have more paintings to see at this exhibit. Here’s a sneak peak of one of Julia’s paintings that will be on view: “Flower Icon: Zinnia,” 12×12 inch oil painting on canvas.

Oooh la la the colors just vibrate here, don’t they?
One More Detail
Here’s a detail of a painting of mine called Raleigh, Newfoundland.

How About Hearing
Yes! We will have 4 poems on view at this show, too. Three of the poems describe each of the featured artists’ works of art. This is a practice called “Ekphrastic Poetry.” Poets and painters have been doing this kind of collaboration for centuries.
So, your ears will be treated in several ways at this show. How? Fabulous poet and friend, Alison Hurwitz will be reading these poems at the opening this weekend (see details below).
And, thanks to a gem of a non-profit here in Raleigh, NC, (thank you Arts Access) we will have audio descriptions of our work.
More Touch Points to Share
Thanks to Clovernook Center for the Blind and 100 Women Who Give A Hoot, this exhibit will have beautiful, Braille labels and signs throughout.
And, thanks to the never ending brilliant ideas of my art colleagues, Dawn, Julia and Alison, we will have sets of beautiful 4×6 inch art & poetry cards for sale at the exhibit. These cards are printed on recycled paper using an eco-friendly process by Barefoot Press in Raleigh. And, they are for sale for $12 (for a set of 5). You can also buy them online here. Proceeds benefit the next fab sponsor of this show which I share below.
None of this would have been possible without the willingness of VAE (Visual Art Exchange) Pete Sack and Jean Gray Moh‘s offer for us to host this show in their beautiful building in downtown Raleigh (aka the Jobe House).
Thank you!
