First Things First

Why first things first? Stay tuned to find out, gentle reader. But first, if you are new here and seeking weekly, colorful paintings in your world (and why not, right?), you can sign up here.

Onward to take a look at this week’s painting.

Welcome to November, Almost

Here we are in November, right? Well, we’re almost in November. So the first reason I say “first things first,” is – for goodness sake – gentle reader – if you live in the US, please PLEASE vote! If you need help or information, here’s a link to Vote dot org which is a good national resource where you can find out all the details based upon your location. VOTE like your life depends upon it…because, it does!

Another First Things First?

Another first things first? YES! Gallery 20 is hosting First Friday on Friday, November 6th from 5PM to 8PM at 20 Glenwood Avenue Raleigh, NC. I’m excited to have a new large and several new small paintings in this spiffy, new gallery in downtown Raleigh. If you can, stop by and say “hi.” There will be lots of beautiful new work on the walls, and I’ll be there with all the other Gallery 20 artists, too.

But Wait There’s More – An Invitation

I’m super excited to share that I’ll be in a group art show called “Engage: Art + Nature + Poetry” and the artist talk and poetry reading (sure to delight you) will be:

Saturday, November 7, 2026
2:00PM to 5:00PM
The Jobe House
909 W Morgan St
Raleigh, NC 27603

If you live in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary area, I would love to see you in person at this event. I promise you, the artwork and poetry readings will inspire and delight you!

Forest Park Art Walk

Just around the corner is another fabulous way to see original artwork here in Raleigh, NC. Come to my studio on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 for the Fourth Annual Forest Park Art Walk.

I promise to share more details here soon!

Live in Richmond

Fear not wonderful Richmond (ites???) (ers???) peeps! Though the first few weeks in November seem a bit focused on events in Raleigh, NC, I am working on new seasonal work for you. And, I can’t wait to see you at the next opening at Crossroads Art Center on November 20. Stay tuned for more details in upcoming posts.

First Things First A Final Look

Circling back to First Friday here in Raleigh, here’s a detail shot of a larger painting called “Sanctuary” that will be on view at Gallery 20 on First Friday.

There are so many fun, light-filled details in this painting. It’s inspired by Van Gogh’s trees and clouds and my new backyard bird bath. Bird Nerds Unite!

Thank You

Thank you for joining me on this creative journey, gentle reader. It would bring me great joy to get a chance to see you in person at one of the events I mention here today. Either way, please let me know how you are doing in the comments below.
