You Can’t Hurry Love

So what do I share that you can’t hurry love? And what does this have to do with painting? Stay tuned, gentle reader and I’ll aim to make a connection. Before I share more in this week’s post, here’s a bit about me. And, if you are seeking weekly, colorful paintings in your world (and why not, right?), you can sign up here.

Onward to take a look at this week’s painting or rather painting in progress.

You Can’t Hurry Paintings Either

There you have it! It’s true! And, shazam as much as I wanted to post this week’s painting as done, I knew in my heart of hearts, it needed more time…just like love.

So here’s a detail of the painting; it’s huge – 2 feet by 4 feet and painted in oils. Enjoy the sneak peak!

Lots of Art World News

This past week I dashed up to Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, VA. Why? The gallery was hosting a private event for attendees of the Travel Bloggers Conference. While there, I noticed that 2 of my paintings on my gallery wall were “missing.” I put missing in quotes because they weren’t really missing. They were being “tested out” in their new forever home.

The gallery offers this service to collectors (with payment option arranged, of course) for up to 48 hours. How customer friendly is that? And, I’m excited to share that the two paintings are now settled in to their new home. Yay!

Art Giveaway

I also did an art giveaway during the private event. And, I’m excited that several people shared their contact information. And, Brenda with Retreet was the winner and got to choose one of my paintings. Congratulations and if you, gentle reader, find yourself near Scottsboro, AL, treat yourself to Retreet Resort and Spa!

There were so many other fabulous travel bloggers at this event. I wish I could mention all of them here. I do want to invite you to check out Jenn Allen with “Wonders within Reach.” She blogs about traveling with her family in search of family friendly accessible destinations. Why? She has an adventurous 10 year old in a wheel chair. Her stories and descriptions of cities who accommodate now and in the future is amazing. Check her blog out here.

And, if you, for some reason, signed up to win, didn’t and want to unsubscribe, I totally understand. You can unsubscribe here, no problem-o!

More News Closer to Home

I’m excited to share that I’ll be showing work here in Raleigh soon. Yahoo! More details coming soon.

Meantime, we, like you I’m sure, are smack dab in the middle of a heat wave. So what does that mean? I’m painting indoors in my tiny studio. And, oh yippeee, there’s a new house build going on right next door. See the doors on our back deck? Ya, that’s where my studio is.

See that big bulldozer? Ya…that big yellow thang is “Beep beeping” and moving dirt around and doing all kinds of building activity. We have a bet going how long we think this project will take. Fingers crossed for one year. What do you think? Longer? Shorter?

Thank goodness for noise cancelling headphones people! That means I can barely here what’s going on out there. Whew!
