Breathing Room Work in Progress

Whoa explain breathing room work in progress, right? OK will do, gentle reader. But first, if you are new here and seeking weekly, colorful paintings in your world (and why not, right?), you can sign up here.

Onward to take a look at this week’s painting in progress.

Breathing Room is a Painting in the Works

Lots of painting happening here these days. Here’s a glimpse of a large 36 inch by 36 inch painting. This is the upper right corner of the painting. See below for where and when you can see the whole thing.

This painting will be on view at a super fab group show I’m in entitled “Engage: Art + Nature + Poetry.” If you live in or near Raleigh, mark your calendars for Saturday, November 7th from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at the Jobe House (home of VAE, Arts Access and a beautiful venue to see art) 909 W Morgan Street Raleigh, NC 27603.

This show and the opening is a multi-sensory experience. Meaning? Meaning there will be art and objects you will be able to touch. Poems, read aloud, about several of the paintings that you will be able to hear. And, paintings to see, too. I hope you will plan on coming.

More Raleigh Art Happenings

Since it’s early October, it’s time for First Friday here in Raleigh. Gallery 20 located at 20 Glenwood Avenue Raleigh, NC 27603 is open till 8:00PM this Friday night, October 2nd. I’ll be there and would be delighted if you popped by.

Then, Saturday, October 3rd, I’ll be plein air (outdoor) painting with several other Gallery 20 artists at Raleigh City Farm 800 N. Blount Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. Stop by any time between 10:00AM and 2:00PM and bring the kiddos. There is so much to see and do at Raleigh City Farm and I’d love to see you there, too.

Remember Richmond, Too

There’s also fabulous art happening a quick drive or train ride from Raleigh in Richmond, Virginia. Crossroads Art Center is located at 2016 Staples Mill Road in Richmond. I’m proud to have a Gallery Wall at this art center. And, if you want a jump start on Holiday Shopping I have a few, fun and whimsical seasonal pieces available. Here’s a picture of the current work on view.

It’s fun to share this photo but guess what? Seeing this art work in real life is so fun and now there’s scientific evidence that looking at original art is good for you. So, if you live near or in Richmond, VA, plan to visit Crossroads this week.

Ask the friendly staff to direct you to my wall. Crossroads is open everyday except Monday. And, if you are dashing to Richmond this weekend, it is open from 10:00AM to 5:00PM on Saturday and noon to 4:00PM on Sunday. And, I look forward to being there in person at the next art opening on Friday, November 20th from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.

How Are You

What’s happening in your world, gentle reader? Are you seeing the words “breathing room” and thinking, whew, I could use some of that? Wowza, me too. Please share how you find breathing room in your world. It might help me and everyone else reading here, too!

  1. The cloud painting is beautiful! The lighting in particular seems “real” as if this is a photograph. This hints at the larger piece being one I could stare at for hours, just waiting for the cloud to change shape or the light to shift. These types of “meditative paintings” are my favorites. Look forward to seeing the whole painting.

    1. Hi Beth, Thank you so much! Using the word “meditative” is wonderful. Stay tuned and lots o love to youuuu xoxo
