Birds in the Studio
Wait…are there really birds in the studio? Kinda? But first, here’s a bit about me. And, if you are seeking weekly, colorful paintings in your world (and why not, right?), you can sign up here.
Onward to take a look at this week’s sketches and paintings.
Really Birds in the Studio?
Okay, I’ll fess up and say “no,” there aren’t really live birds in my studio. But one thing I decided to study a bit this summer is drawing and painting birds. Why? I want to include them in my paintings or rather suggest them some way.
So here are some of the sketches I have done this summer.

My goal is to ultimately capture the essence of some of my favorite birds in flight or in their habitat. In fact, I would love to, someday, incorporate bird like shapes into the landscape for the discerning viewer to see.
For Now
So I’m excited to share a detail of a large 36×36 inch painting I just finished for a group show I’m in in November.

I’ll share another detail of this painting next week (super excited about it). But for now, enjoy these sketches from here in the studio. And, know that I’m stoked to show birds in my work.
