This Week’s Setting
Even though it’s hot as h-e-double-toothpick, we went camping in NC this week. We were lucky to meet up with some friends who think nothing of sleeping sans air conditioning this time of year.
As we were slowly losing our minds from heat delirium (ha ha – not really), someone suggests we go hike around Pilot Mountain. Why not, right? What a fantastic place to hike. I had to stop at every turn to take in the rock formations, listen to the birds (Indigo Buntings!!) and take in the beautiful, scenic views. If you live in NC, believe me you will be saying, “praise for Pilot Mountain,” if you get a chance to visit!
This painting is a view from a short overlook at Pilot Mountain. If you think I had the ability to paint and hike in this heat, thank you. But no, I didn’t. In fact, I couldn’t wait to get home to my air conditioned studio to work on this quick study. It’s 8×6 inches and painted in oil on canvas panel. Yes it’s for sale and includes free shipping. Note this painting is unframed. Here’s the link to pay and make it yours. SOLD

Love back at ya Denise! ππ
From memory?! This is a remarkable painting to my eyes for all kinds of reasons – the textures, the way the colors take me to various places in the painting and the way the brushstrokes make the rocks and the clouds so “real.” No painter, here, but this is a mighty painting to me!
Hiya Beth! Heck no π TY for looking and commenting tho’ ππ
Hi Julie, what a great painting! Wonderful textures and details. I admire your willingness to hike these hot hot days.
Hiya Kath! TY so much for noticing textures and all. Well…I guess if I gotta be outdoors, it makes sense to move, eh? xoxo and TY again!!
