Lantana Love
What is lantana love? I can’t wait to share with you! But before I continue I’d like to welcome you here. Where’s “here?” Here’s the quick back story.
I love to paint. For several months each year, we tow a small teardrop camper (and my mobile painting studio). I bring my paints and sketch and paint as we travel and trek. This year, we made it as far north as Newfoundland. Now we are back in Raleigh, North Carolina.
No matter where we are, each week I share a painting, sketch or study. My hope is that what I draw or paint might delight and inspire you. Sign up here to receive these colorful painting posts in your inbox.
The Setting
So even though we love to travel, right now I am so glad to be home. And, I’m finding so much to see and paint right in plain sight. Such as? How about the huge lantana bush in our front yard. My beloved mother-in-law gave me that bush in August ages ago. I’m remember thanking her for it. And, I remember thinking “Holy Smokes I hope the hot August sun doesn’t kill it!”
Thankfully, this shrub has thrived and grown over the years. Lately I have been thrilled and lucky to see hummingbirds, butterflies and moths hover around it.
Lantana Love Painting
Here’s the sa-weet painting. It’s 5×5 inches and painted in gouache on panel.

The fun vase in this painting is handmade by my niece in Massachusetts. As I painted, it was fun to see the slight ridges and variations in the pot; all indicators of her hands and fingers making this sweet piece! It’s for sale for $85 + NC Sales Tax + Free Shipping = $91.16. To purchase, tap here.
What About You
How are you gentle reader? Are you seeing any wonders of nature or surprises in your world? If so, please do tell! I would love to hear from you in the comments below.

How fun to see one of Molly’s creations in your creation! I love both and think the colors are bright and imaginative for letting the lantana POP!
Hi Beth, I love how perfect Molly’s bud vase is for small cuttings from our little garden! The greens of that vase do really help bring out the warmth of the lantana blossoms. Yay! xoxo
what a happy fall color scheme! Loving your work, Julie!
