Crowley’s Island Beach View
Where is Crowley’s Island Beach View? I cannot wait to share gentle reader.
But first, if you’re new here, welcome! Each week I share a painting, sketch or study. My hope is that what I draw or paint might delight and inspire you. Sign up here to receive these colorful painting posts in your inbox.
The Setting
Where is this week’s mobile art studio? We traveled up (or down)…I haven’t figured out the up and down directions in Maine…yet. Anyway, we went up to Corea, Maine today. What a beautiful, sweet little coastal town! So, while the kayakers kayaked, I set up here.

You can even see the quick sketch I did on the easel. When I think back on the years (and years), I spent in the “office” in day job world, I practically almost weep with gratitude for what I do now. Don’t get me wrong, like everything, there are good days and bad. But holy moly, this work and the ever changing office views are the best experience(s) I could ever have.
Painting of Crowley’s Island Beach View
Here’s this week’s finished painting. It’s 5×5 inches, painted in gouache on an Ampersand panel and…it’s sold! Yippeee.

New Gallery Visit
After I finished the painting, I went to Chapter Two, Contemporary Gallery in Corea, Maine. What a delightful place. Why? There are beautiful hook rugs by gallery co-owner, Rosemary. There are fantastic wood block prints (and the original blocks too) by Fine Artist, Dan Miller. But wait there’s more! Meaning? Meaning, here’s a list of more of the artists in the gallery. And, I’m pretty sure there are more artists (jewelery, sculpture, scarves) than this list shows. So, if you are heading out to the coast of Maine near Ellsworth and beyond, be sure to visit this wonderful place.
