Where is the Big Sky

I worked on this painting during our short beach trip last week. So, I painted this painting at Topsail Beach. It’s a wonderful place to visit and paint.

As I write this we’re away…again! This week, we’re camping in the woods. If you’re thinking we are overdosing on travel, you would be absolutely correct. We love seeing friends and family on the road. And, we look forward to getting back home soon.

In the meantime here are a few more details about this week’s windy and colorful painting.

Gouache Painting on Carton Board

This gouache painting is 8×8 inches. And, I used a different kind of paper for it. It’s called Guerrilla Carton Board. I like that it’s super light weight and travels well. And, I love how this painting turned out. Here it is!

Yes it’s for sale for $85 including free shipping. Here’s the Square Payment link to make it your very own.

How Are You

What’s happening in your world, gentle reader? Seen any big skies in your neck o’ the woods? If so, I would love to hear from you. Please share in the comments below.

  1. Love the name of the paper. also LOVE the painting. It’s so …expansive. I can feel the air and smell the sea. You captured something when painting it. That is certain!

    1. Hiya Beth,
The paper is reminiscent of the type used by Toulouse-Lautrec and Vuillard (according to the manufacturer). Gotta say, I loved painting on that surface!!!
TY so much for looking and experiencing with other senses. Super cool! xo

  2. Gorgeous painting, Julie! You captured the feeling of wide expanse and depth on a 2D surface so well! So happy to hear about all your trips; sounds like an amazing summer. xoxo
