What’s Your Portal to the Universe

So gentle reader, what’s your portal to the universe? Maybe you have more than one? Before I share more in this week’s post, here’s a bit about me. And, if you are seeking weekly, colorful paintings in your world (and why not, right?), you can sign up here.

Onward to take a look at this week’s painting.

Where is Your Portal to the Universe

How do you find your happy place also known as your portal or view of the universe? Do you like getting goodies in your mailbox? Or maybe you like sending goodies from your mailbox? Maybe you like getting ready for a journey or hitting the road? Maybe your portal is just looking up at the sky?

This week’s painting strives to cover all those aspects of our world. It’s inspired by a view I had after we had returned to NC from PA in 2019. I can’t tell you how grateful I was for green grass, open skies, hearing birds.

Here’s the painting of a hilltop view near Danbury, NC. My painter pal and dear friend, Ellen Gamble, had introduced me to the fabulous gallery and people of Stokes County Arts Council in Danbury that year. I captured this view as we were driving back to Raleigh. Side note: if you are headed towards Hanging Rock State Park from Raleigh, NC, you will drive right past the Arts Council. There’s an amazing gift store, coffee shop and ice cream store there. Goooo!

This is a 12×12 inch oil painting on panel. It’s for sale for $400 framed. Contact me here if you’re in or around Raleigh, NC and want to see it in person.

How About You

What’s happening in your world, gentle reader? Are you antsy to hit the road or are you settling in by your fan or air conditioning at home for the steamy summer days ahead? Either way, I hope to hear from you and learn about your current favorite portal to the universe.

    1. Hi Denise, TY for the less colors I use, the more color I see. Crazy, eh? This painting definitely makes me want to hit the road too. xoxo

  1. We discussed that very question in a small neighborhood group I was in yesterday. It surprised me how few people had thought about it.
You’ve covered all sorts of ways to experience a portal in this painting and your red mailbox makes me smile, there’s the tug of the road and always the big sky. It’s a painting that one could look at and linger over for years.

    1. Hi Kathyyyyy, That is so cosmic that you had a conversation about portals as I was writing this post. How cool is that! I think we are wired to have that tug of the road especially this time of year. Maybe blame it on the road trip west we did in ’64 or was it ’65? Glad you enjoyed the painting and post! xoxo

  2. This is yet another beauty, Julie. The colors and sense of open land give a sense of calm to me and I imagine many others!
